"THE ALPHABET"

The modern English alphabet is a Latin alphabet consisting of 26 letters and 2 ligatures – the same letters that are found in the Basic Modern Latin Alphabet:
The exact shape of printed letters varies depending on the typeface. The shape of handwritten letters can differ significantly from the standard printed form (and between individuals), especially when written in cursive style. See the individual letter articles for information about letter shapes and origins (follow the links on any of the uppercase letters above). Written English also uses a number of digraphs, but they are not considered to be part of the alphabet.

Alphabet Action is a game that helps children begins recognizing letter names in an entertaining and interactive way. Play it with your child the first few times through. As you click on a letter, it will tell the letter name and show an object beginning with that letter. It does not say the name of the object because we've found children like to be able to name it themselves. You can take a few seconds on each letter to reinforce the letter name by saying it yourself and making sure your child can name the object correctly.

Common definitions:
The letters of a language, arranged in the order fixed by custom.
A set of basic parts or elements.
